The incredible weather continued today in South Florida. I spent a couple of hours at Green Cay Wetlands. I saw a total of 54 species today including both American and Least Bitterns.
This Painted Bunting is not the most colorful I’ve seen but I loved the over the shoulder look he provided me. There were at least a dozen of these guys around between all the feeders.
The American Bitterns have been more cooperative this year than I’ve ever seen. I walked by this guy two different times and he hadn’t budged. The light was better the second time so I immortalized him with a picture!
Yesterday I had talked a little about the different molt phases of Little Blue Heron and White Ibis.
Heres a Little Blue Heron about half way to becoming an adult …
and an almost White Ibis!
It seems I made a tactical error by not going to the beach today. Last week there was a report of 3 Plover Species at the Lake Worth Pier. I have been there 3 times since and seen squat but it seems today someone posted on the TAS birdboard the they saw them all plus some other goodies. I guess it’s back to the beach tomorrow!!!
Thank you all so much for visiting and all the kind comments.
Outstanding photos! Thanks for sharing …
Just beautiful.

Great shots!! We can’t wait to get down there in a few weeks. Tell all your feathered friends to stay photogenic for us!
