Home Sweet Home

Celebrity Solstice ... truly a magnificent vessel!

This was my home for the last week … and while I had a fabulous vacation it will be really nice to sleep in my own bed tonight!

The Island of Roatan Honduras

Terri and I visited some wonderful places, saw some really cool stuff and ate waaaayyy too much food.  Honduras was the coolest spots we hit for nature stuff.  We took a trip to Gumbalimba Nature Preserve where they had some nice free flying Macaws and free climbing monkeys.

Green-breasted Mango

They also had Hummingbird feeders where I think I got pictures of 3 different types of Hummers. This guy and one or two of the Emerald species which I haven’t had time to get specific with yet.

Brown Booby

I didn’t see many Pelagic birds on the cruise but did have this Brown Booby alongside long enough for me to capture some images.

I watched this rainbow come towards us from beyond the island!

I have a few more pictures for another day and I’ll leave you with this one … how nice our trip was … sunshowers and rainbows.

Tomorrow I’ll be back to Palm Beach County birding.  Migration is nearly upon us and I expect to be finding new birds at a nice clip for the next month and a half!  Thank you for visiting and I promise to start commenting again tomorrow!

About sheriffsmith

I have worked for the Broward County Sheriff's Office the last 13 years and spend most of my free time birdwatching / naturewatching and photographing the birds and nature that I encounter. I believe God has blessed us with a world that is so absolutely fascinating and wonderful and I'm doing my best to discover and show others all that he has provided us with in nature.

  1. I have not sailed the Solstice but I toured it at a cruise conference one year – fabulous ship…I’m considering a Med cruise on the sister ship the Eclipse. Your photos are always amazing. Nice job.
