Bike Day

While my car was being serviced I rode my bike 28+ miles up A1A from Delray to Boca.  I stopped at various spots along the beach and at Spanish River Park and Gumbo Limbo Park.

Spotted Sandpiper # 124 for the year

Spanish River Park is one of the really good hot-spots in migration. The rest of the year it can be very quiet but I was hopeful the Spotted Sandpiper that has been at the boat dock the last 3 years would be there today.  It’s nice when a plan comes to.

Coopers Hawk

I saw this beautiful Male Coopers Hawk on A1A.  I love how when his head is down like in the picture you can see his Cap.  The dark on his head does not extend down his nape like it would in a Sharp-shinned.  His thick legs are also another good field mark.

Thanks for visiting and hopefully I’ll get a special bird tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

About sheriffsmith

I have worked for the Broward County Sheriff's Office the last 13 years and spend most of my free time birdwatching / naturewatching and photographing the birds and nature that I encounter. I believe God has blessed us with a world that is so absolutely fascinating and wonderful and I'm doing my best to discover and show others all that he has provided us with in nature.
